There were lots of good answers to individual threats no matter how large, and most decks were sitting on several when it came time to finish them
If tapped for mana, Plains produce , Islands produce , Swamps produce , Mountains produce , and Forests produce instead of any other type
There are multiple blue Beauty and the Beast cards in the likes of Gaston, Intellectual Powerhouse - which will help you to search through your deck for the cards you need by, for example, finding those Dwarfs to combo together - and song card Four Dozen Eggs, which will use Rise of the Floodborns Resist keyword to reduce damage your character take for the next turn
For three mana, you get a Black and Green enchantment that deals one damage to you in your upkeep
In the absence of cards like [casthaven]Stifle[/casthaven], [casthaven]Wasteland[/casthaven], [casthaven]Force of Will[/casthaven], and dedicated hosers, I have no idea how Modern decks can fight them, other than by playing a version of Eldrazi designed to break the mirror (or perhaps [casthaven]Painters Servant[/casthaven] is a stronger hoser than it appears)
